About this saint

Saint Raphael is the archangel who accompanies Tobiah in the Book of Tobit. Appearing in human form, he guides the young man to Media and shows him how his father's sight can be restored. At the journey's end, Raphael reveals that God sent him to heal Tobit and Sarah. His name means “God has healed,” and the Church honors him as the patron of healing and travelers. The words “Healing over suffering” connect his story with hope during illness, recovery, and uncertain journeys. His image is especially fitting in a prayer corner, bedroom, counseling room, clinic, medical office, or entryway.
