About this saint
Saint Sebastian was an early Christian martyr whose ancient veneration is rooted in Rome. According to Church tradition, he served in the imperial guard and quietly helped imprisoned Christians. After being shot with arrows and left for dead, he recovered and returned to proclaim his faith before giving his life as a martyr. The arrow in this portrait recalls that steadfast witness. Honored as a patron of athletes and soldiers, Sebastian speaks to courage, discipline, and faithful perseverance. The words “St. Sebastian, Patron Saint of Athletes” bring his example close to daily effort, long training, and demanding seasons. His image is especially fitting in a home gym, training space, study, bedroom, or prayer corner.
