About this saint

Saint Benedict’s Rule shaped monastic life around prayer, work, and hospitality. By teaching that every guest should be received as Christ, it gave welcome a sacred place in daily life. The medal bearing his name has also long been kept in Catholic homes as a prayer for blessing and protection. Together, these traditions give his image a natural place near an entrance, a workspace, or a place of prayer. The words “St. Benedict, Patron Saint of Protection from Evil” express that intention simply and directly.
